Murugu: Kenyan musicians will sing about sex but cannot compose song for late retired president Kibaki

A Kenyan social media user has blasted local artists for not composing special tribute songs to late President Mwai Kibaki almost a week after he breathed his last.

Ng’endo Murugu said most Kenyan artists are only good at singing raunchy songs, glorifying sex and nudity.

She said unlike their Tanzanian counterparts who flooded studios to compose tribute songs to late President John Pombe Magufuli just hours after his death, no Kenyan artist has released a tribute song to mourn Kenya’s third President Mwai Kibaki.

A Kenyan social media user has blasted local artists for not composing special tribute songs to late President Mwai Kibaki almost a week after he breathed his last.

“When Magufuli died, Tanzanian Musicians did songs for the legend in less than a day. Here in Kenya days after Kibaki’s death, nothing is happening. Kenyan musicians only get creative on songs (glorifying) sex! Bure kabisa (useless)!” she said in a Tweet.

Kivumbi.co.ke can confirm that hours after the death announcement of Tanzanian President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, Bongo Flava artists led by Diamond, Juma Jux, and Khadija Kopa hit the studio to record a special tribute song for their departed President for his sacrifice to the people.

Videos shared by a number of local media houses in Tanzania, captured more than 20 musicians in a studio in the middle of the night, eulogizing Magufuli through a special composition.

Some of the stars spotted in a studio in a somber mood include; Lava Lava, Malkia Karen Gnako, Belle 9, Dulla Makabila, Queen Darleen, Zuchu, Khadija Kopa, Mbosso, Rayvanny, Juma Jux, Shilole, Marioo, Baba Levo, Christina Shusho, Ben Pol among others.

Kivumbi.co.ke understands that it is only controversial singer Chris Mosioma, aka Embarambamba, who has released a song in honour of President Mwai Kibaki.

In an interview with The Star, the gospel singer known for his crazy antics said that he chose to celebrate Kenya’s third president with a song since he did not get a chance to perform for him while he was alive.
