Musalia Mudavadi finally explains why he joined William Ruto

by Amos Khaemba

The Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi has finally explained his ‘Earthquake’ decision to the Mulembe nation.

Addressing 5,000 delegates at his Mululu home on Friday, February 25, Mudavadi defended his decision to work with Deputy President William Ruto saying it was in the best interest of the community.

The ANC leader pointed out the failure by the ODM leader Raila Odinga to support a Luhya for the presidency even after the community has supported him for many years was the main reason behind their move.

“It is not time to lament but show direction. I want to tell you the truth. We from this region have helped others before and invested in them but they have not shown us gratitude,” Mudavadi said.

The ANC leader further revealed that they were angered by the move of President Uhuru and Raila in coming up with several parties in the region that was aimed at dismembering ANC and Fordy Kenya.

“They want it to look like many parties are in support of Azimio la Umoja. Let us not be hoodwinked and show them that Kenyans are with Kenya Kwanza,” said Mudavadi.

The sentiments by Mudavadi come after the recent formation of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) associated with Eugene Wamalwa which has seen many MPs defect from both ANC and Ford Kenya to the new party.

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula emphasized the fact the former prime minister could not be trusted anymore.

“We want to leave here with a social contract to deconstruct political brokers from our region. Time for political conmanship has ended. A neighbor (in reference to Raila) who seeks support for himself every time is not a good person,” said Wetang’ula.

Mudavadi and Wetang’ula further hinted at stepping down in favor of DP Ruto in the ongoing negotiations with the Kenya Kwanza alliance.

“If you (people of western) demand it must be you, then this will break our course. Our alliance is going to form the next government.

“Allow us to continue negotiating on your behalf so that we can grow our country. Allow us to walk with Ruto in the Kenya Kwanza alliance,” the ANC leader pleaded with the delegates.

Further, Mudavadi hit out on President Uhuru, terming him arrogant over his move to endorse the ODM leader in the forthcoming August elections.

“I am not a fool and I’m not about to have a leader imposed on us. We know it is at the ballot that a leader is elected,” Mudavadi said.
