Musalia Mudavadi thanks President Uhuru for offloading Raila, ‘he was a heavy baggage’

by Amos Khaemba

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi satirically thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for supporting the ODM leader Raila Odinga, describing him as a political burden.

Speaking in Embu on Saturday, February 19, during the Kenya Kwanza rally, Mudavadi said he got tired of supporting the ODM leader whom he termed as a difficult person to work with.”

“In 2007- 2008, (William Ruto) and I carried this man (Raila Odinga), 2013 Kalonzo and Wetang’ula carried him. In 2017, Wetang’ula, Kalonzo, and I carried him again. I now want to tell you that that man is extremely heavy. You get tired carrying him,” Musalia said.

At the same time, the ANC leader predicted that President Uhuru will also get tired of supporting the former prime minister before the August polls.

“I want to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for helping us and getting rid of that heavy burden,” Mudavadi, who backed Odinga’s ambitions in 2017 under the now defuncted National Super Alliance (NASA), said.

” I want to warn him that by the time we are going to the polls, he will be tired of carrying him,” the ANC leader quipped.

Musalia Mudavadi, who served as deputy prime minister with Raila as his boss, termed the ODM leader a dishonest leader blaming him for the disintegration of the NASA alliance.

Speaking at the same rally, Deputy President William Ruto challenged the ODM leader to come out of the shadows of President Uhuru and face him without help from the head of state.

“Stop hiding behind (President) Uhuru. Come out and face me. You should stop making it look like August 9 is a Kenya Kwanza versus Uhuru Kenyatta,” DP Ruto said.

The second in command castigated the Azimio la Umoja movement for trying to take credit for Jubilee’s achievements yet they did not vote for President Uhuru.

“The Azimio group did not vote for Uhuru. Stop talking about the track record of the government. We will claim every credit because we voted for Uhuru,” Ruto added.
