Musalia Mudavadi’s party bans Raila from attending his big announcement

by Amos Khaemba

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has not been invited for Musalia Mudavadi’s big announcement on Sunday, January, 23.

Amani National Congress party has said Raila is not welcome to attend their National Delegates Conference as he is a competitor to their cause.

ANC secretary-general Simon Gikuru said the part’s secretariat has already begun sending out invitations to leaders for National Delegates Conference to be held at Bomas of Kenya.

“We have already invited OKA principals. I have not seen any invitation for Raila. Neither have I seen one for Jubilee. Why would we invite our competitors when we are launching our bid for the presidency? To come and do what?” asked ANC Secretary-General Simon Gikuru.

Already Speaker of the National Assembly Democratic Party presidential hopeful, Justin Muturi is has received his invitation for the ANC event.

Taking to his social media Speaker Muturi thanked ANC for extending him the invitation.

Speaking to Standard Digital, Kakamega Senator revealed that even though Deputy President is a friend of ANC, he has not been invited.

“We are only inviting our friends not our competitors. Ruto is our friend but still our competitor. We have not invited him.” Malala said.

The failure of ANC to extend an invitation to Odinga is not surprising as the party questioned Kalonzo Musyoka’s loyalty to OKA when Wiper invited Raila to its NDC.

“You cannot invite our biggest rival (Raila) into OKA linked event. Then it is quite clear that you are in OKA outfit as Raila’s project which begs the question on why you should not quit and make arrangements with ODM as early as now,” Kakamega Senator fired at Kalonzo last year.

“As a party, I can confirm that we have not received any invitation,” ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna told The People Daily.

The big announcement

Mudavadi is expected to make what is being termed as “earth-shaking” announcements on the political direction of the party.

The ANC leader finds himself in a tight spot as he has to navigate the hopes of his supporters at the same time make realistic decisions.

Political pundits observe that Mudavadi has limited options, some saying the big announcement is very predictable.

According to political observers, Mudavadi has three options, either announce that he will be on the ballot under ANC party, or will remain in OKA or he will join forces with either Ruto or Raila.

Former deputy party leader for ANC Ayub Savula who has vowed to skip the meeting, said Mudavadi’s options are limited of which has to be careful on way which he chooses.

“He may decide to go it alone all the way, work with Raila or Jion forces with DP Ruto. He should make the right decision because any slight mistake could condemn him into oblivion.” Savula said.
