“Ruto wrestled the Kalenjin Nation from Mzee Moi. Did he succeed? Yes. Then he took the GEMA Nation from Uhuru Kenyatta. Did he succeed? Yes. Now he wants to wrestle the Mulembe Nation from Raila. Will he succeed? Yes,” the analyst said in a Tweet.

The Western region has traditionally been earmarked as former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s political stronghold.

However, during the August 9, General Election, the region rallied its support for President William Ruto.

This was after former ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula helped William Ruto to garner more than 70 percent of the total votes cast.

For instance, Mudavadi delivered 76 percent of the votes in his polling station while Wetang’ula on the other hand delivered 78 percent of the votes in his polling station.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has on several occasions attributed President William Ruto’s win to the number of votes he got from the Luhya community.

Wetang’ula said the votes especially from Bungoma had a decisive impact as they tipped the scales in Ruto’s favor during the final tallying.

“We as a community, here in the west especially here in Bungoma, we thank you very much for responding to my call and my colleagues and standing with us to vote for President William Ruto to be our President,” Wetang’ua said.
