Mutahi Ngunyi: Raila using old tricks, cannot stop President Ruto in 2027

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has on several occasions ruled out his retirement from active politics even after losing the seat to William Ruto.

Raila who unsuccessfully vying for the country’s top seat in the 2022 elections has now resorted to holding weekly protests insisting that Ruto must resign.

Addressing his supporters at Kibra on Sunday, February 5, the former Prime Minister listed reasons why President William Ruto is not fit to be the President of Kenya.

“Kenyans deserve a regime elected through a fair and transparent process.

We stand with the people of this nation in their quest for justice and democracy, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that their voices are heard and their rights are respected. Ruto Must GO!” Raila said.

However, in a statement on Monday, February 6, political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi criticized opposition leader Raila Odinga’s calls for the resignation of William Ruto.

In reference to Raila’s ‘Ruto Must Go’ calls, during the Azimio protest rally on Sunday, Ngunyi wondered where Raila wants Ruto to go.

“Ruto Must Go. Go where? Go back to Statehouse in 2027? This is the only thing that Babaman can stop,” he said in a Tweet.

Ngunyi, further accused the veteran politician of using old tricks to find a new land adding that Raila will still lose in 2027 if he continues with his weekly anti-government protests.

“…you cannot use an old map to find a new land,” the analyst added.

The former Prime Minister last month asserted that he would retire at his will, and did not require anyone to dictate when to leave the political scene.

“They’re saying they want to take me to Bondo but I know the way to Bondo, if I want to go there, I will not need any help from Ruto, Kenyans have said Baba should continue,” Raila said indicating that he would mount another presidential contest in 2027.
