Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has said that President William Ruto will dump his deputy Rigathi Gachagua in 2027.

In a statement on Monday, November 15, the political strategist predicted that the president who will be seeking to retain his seat will pick Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi as his running mate.

“(Musalia) Mudavadi will be (President William) Ruto’s running mate in 2027,” Mutahi Nunyi said in a Tweet.

Ngunyi who worked as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s technical assistant in the previous government further opined that the Head of State will trim Kikuyu’s in his second term as the president.

He said it will take time for Kikuyu’s who have been the majority in almost all the government appointments since the country attained its independence in 1963 to regain relevance.

“Kikuyus will be downsized and will need a Kenneth Matiba to regain relevance,” he added.

The former Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua defeated Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to be named William Ruto’s 2022 presidential running mate.

Both Gachagua and Kindiki had maintained a hardline stance on the running mate slot.

However, after a 17-hour meeting, Kenya Kwanza Alliance settled on Gachagua because he is an astute debater, a principled, resilient, and fearless fighter for the right cause.

“Gachagua is my friend whom I have worked with, especially on that Bottom-Up Economic model and we started that journey together. He understands people’s issues, he is passionate about ordinary people,” Ruto said.

Mudavadi, who stepped down as ANC party leader first vied for the presidency in 2013 emerging third after Rtd President Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga of the then Coalition for Reform and Democracy (CORD).

Mudavadi, dumped Raila’s Azimio la Umoja and signed a pre-election agreement with Ruto which helped him beat the ODM leader Raila Odinga by a narrow margin in the just concluded presidential elections.
