Johnson Muthama laughs off Raila camp’s advice to Ruto about accepting election results

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) chairman further said, due to Raila's quenchless thirst for power, his die-hard supporters lost their lives and properties while others have been subjected to permanent disability

Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has taken a swipe at Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga’s camp for asking Deputy President William to prepare to accept the results of the 2022 presidential election.

Muthama termed the advice ironic given the ODM leader has never accepted the outcome of any election.

The United Democratic Alliance chairman thus believes Raila’s men are not in any position to lecture anyone on accepting or denying election results.

Muthama dismiss Raila men's advice to Ruto on accepting election results
Muthama termed the advice satiric given that the ODM leader has never accepted the outcome of any election and should not be in a position to lecture anyone on acceptance of the finality of elections results.

“It is satiric for someone like Raila Odinga who has never accepted the outcome of any election to lecture anyone on acceptance of the finality of election results,” Muthama tweeted.

On Tuesday November 9, ODM Chairman John Mbadi, Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, and Director of Elections Junet Mohammed claimed that William Ruto’s recent brand of politics points to someone out to find an excuse to dispute the 2022 presidential results.

Speaking when Raila Odinga hosted a delegation from Ukambani counties of Machakos, Kitu, and Makueni at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi, Sifuna said challenged the presidential hopeful to assure the country that he will accept the outcome of the 2022 contest.

Johnson Mutham however said Raila’s refusal to accept previous presidential election results has resulted in the deaths of some of his die-hard supporters.

“So many people have always lost their lives, properties and others sent into permanent disabilities due to Raila’s quenchless thirst for power,

“To make it worse, he has never lobbied for compensation for those families even after joining the government,” Muthama added.

Muthama was a key supporter of Raila in the 2013 and 2017 general elections before he changed tune after the much-publicised handshake between President Kenyatta and Raila back in 2018 where Kenyans woke to “life-changing” news through a rather unexpected event.

Raila and Kenyatta, who were at the helm of the divisive politics and hurling insults at each other, were putting their differences aside and uniting through the “Handshake”.

The handshake changed the political environment of the country, with politicians led by Deputy President William Ruto shifting camps, terming the move as ‘betrayal’.
