Nairobi county MP reveals why Kikuyu women love Luo men

by Nderi Caren

Nairobi County MP Esther Passaris has praised Luo men on how they handle relationships, citing it as the reason Kikuyu men fall for them.

Speaking at Chungwa house on Wednesday, September 8, as ODM received new party members, Esther Passaris said Kikuyu women know how loving Luo men can get and that is why most of them get married to men from lake region.

While luring Mt Kenya people to support Raila Odinga’s presidency, Passaris implied that ODM and Raila Odinga will take care of the region’s needs properly, just the way Luo men know how to take care of their women.

“Let me tell you, Luo men know how to love. When most Kikuyu women look for romance, they know where to go. So, what I want to tell you is that when you come to ODM, you will receive genuine love,” Passaris said, sending the crowd into laughter.

Nairobi County MP Esther Passaris shared her experience on how she felt loved by the Luo community during the 2017 campaigns.

“The love that I got from my ODM family! They would see me and get excited. Let me tell you, being loved by your people is not the same as being loved by other people,” the Nairobi County MP said.

For a long time, the Kikuyu and the Luo Community have been having political differences, and even engage in tribal conflicts during the election period.

This strained relationship between the Kikuyu’s and Luo’s has made ODM leader Raila Odinga (a luo) find it hard to win the votes of the Mt Kenya region, home to the majority of the Kikuyu community.

In the political scenes, selling Raila Odinga in Mt Kenya has been compared to selling pork in front of a Mosque; it will turn chaotic.

However, even with their strained political relationship, the two communities still intermarry.

A number of renowned Luo politicians in the country are married to spouses from the Mt Kenya region.

Babu Owino: The Embakasi East MP is married to Fridah Muthoni.

James Orengo: The Siaya Senator is married to Betty Murungi, who is governor Kiraitu Murungi’s sister.

While Raila Odinga’s son, Raila junior is also married to a Kikuyu lady, Yvonne Wambui.
