Nairobi governor Anne Kananu has denied reports that she was ignored during the Jamhuri day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens on December 12.

In a press statement, Kananu said that there have been claims she was not only ignored at the event, but was also missing in action at the State luncheon thereafter.

The Nairobi Governor said she was not snubbed at the Jamhuri day celebrations, neither did she boycott the luncheon.

Firstly, Kananu said there were time limitations in the event which denied her a chance to address the attendants before inviting Deputy President William Ruto.

“The Jamhuri Day celebrations and the Trooping of the color by 19 Battalion of The Kenya Rifles is an event that is managed intricately with extreme caution and precision. Time management becomes a key factor to its success and therefore the program is adjusted accordingly like was the case yesterday for my remarks,” read part of Kananu’a statement.

She further added that she has been under the weather for the last few days, hence missing the State luncheon.

“Last week on Tuesday, I was hospitalized for several days and in adherence to my doctor’s recommendation and advise; after the celebrations I took a rest hence my absence from the Garden party at State House,” she stated.

Anne Kananu further dismissed reports that she has fallen out with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

She vowed not to be distracted by the reports that are meant to injure her relationship with the Head of State.

“Let it be known that I enjoy an excellent and cordial working relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta. it was a great honor to share the ceremony with him and the people of Nairobi as it was also my very first National event since my swearing in as Governor of Nairobi City County,” Kananu added.
