Nairobi’s 80-year-old car stereo technician joins UDA, to vie for top seat in 2022

Nairobi’s 80-year old car stereo technician popularly known as DJ Shosh has joined William Ruto’s UDA Party.

On Tuesday, October 2, DJ Shosh was received into the party by UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina and other members.

The 80-year-old car stereo technician declared that she will be contesting for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat in the 2022 General Election.

“Cecilia Mwangi (Shosh) 80 the proprietor of Shosh Sound Systems, who made ripples in the international media welcomed to UDA by Secretary General Veronica Maina. She will contest for Nairobi Women Representative Seat,” the UDA Party announced.

The 80-year-old joins a tight race to become the next Woman Representative of Nairobi County.

At UDA, DJ shosh will battle for a nomination ticket with nominated Senator Millicent Omanga, who has expressed interest in the seat.

The other candidates that the 80-year-old car stereo technician will face include incumbent Esther Passaris, Karen Nyamu, former Woman Rep Rachel Shebesh, and  Tabitha Mutinda.

However, a recent survey by Mizani Africa showed that Senator Milicent Omanga is the most preferred candidate in the Nairobi Woman Rep race.

It showed that 29.0% of Nairobians would vote for Millicent Omanga if the 2022 General Elections are held today.

24.8% of Nairobians said that they would vote for Esther Passaris if she defends her seat in the 2022 elections.

Another 22.9% of Nairobi residents will vote for former Woman Representative Rachael Shebesh.

Politician Karen Nyamu followed with 15.6% of the votes, Tabitha Mutinda at 4.1% and other unnamed candidates at 3.6%

The gubernatorial race on the other hand is a race between Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, Senator Johnson Sakaja, deputy governor Anne Kananu, Agnes Kagure, Peter Kenneth, and Dennis Waweru.

In this category, Tim Wanyonyi stood out as the most preferred candidate from the survey conducted by Mizani Africa.
