A section of President William Ruto’s allies is now accusing ex-president Uhuru Kenyatta of bankrolling the ongoing anti-government protests.

They are further accusing the former Head of State of evading to pay taxes at the expense of millions of other low-income earners.

Raila who has held two rallies in Nairobi has vowed to continue engaging with Kenyans from every corner pushing President Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua to resign.

As such, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei is now calling on President William Ruto to fire his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a statement on Tuesday, January 31, Cherargei, a close ally of the Head of State said it was wrong for Uhuru to fund Azimio protests to undermine the government of the day.

He further asked the First in Command to suspend the taxes waived to the first family during the previous regime adding that taxes must be paid regardless of who one is.

“Ruto should ask Uhuru to step down from his role of Peace envoy to DRC for the continued undermining of our govt. His role in Azimio-OKA activities of allegedly funding Maandamos/ political rallies is proof enough. Taxes must be paid regardless of who you are! Ushuru ulipwe!” Cherargei said in a Tweet.

During his swearing-in last year, President Ruto appointed his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta as his peace envoy for the Great Lakes Region and the Horn of Africa making him the chair of the regional peace interventions on behalf of the Government of Kenya.

“I have committed that the government of Kenya will support those initiatives that will be chaired by President Kenyatta and I want to thank you Excellency for graciously agreeing to support us and help me in those interventions,” President Ruto said.
