Ngunjiri Wambugu: Ruto is earning as deputy president but working as a presidential aspirant

by Enock Ndayala

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has accused Deputy President William Ruto of abusing his position by using State Resources to advance his 2022 presidential ambition.

In a social media rant, Wambugu claimed the estranged Jubilee Party leader continues to earn a salary as deputy president while working full time as a presidential aspirant.

The statement came after a fact check revealed the workaholic Ruto has done more than 130 rallies in one month in his quest to succeed retiring president Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I see TangaTanga are very proud of the fact that Ruto has done 187+ political rallies in 30 days. And it is quite a remarkable achievement,

“What they don’t realise is that they have just confirmed that we as Kenyans pay (William) Ruto a government salary as a deputy president. However what he does every day is to work as a presidential aspirant,” Wambugu said.

The Thika town MP, who recently withdrew threats to join Tanga Tanga, a political wing linked to William Ruto further claimed that the deputy president could be using taxpayers’ money to fund his rallies.

He further accused William Ruto of taking credit for Jubilee development projects saying that all of the development programs in Kenya are independent of the deputy president since he has dedicated all his energies to 2022 campaigns.

“We can also agree that since it’s impossible to do these many political rallies and still deliver as deputy president, it is now official that all and any of the development programs you see going on in Kenya are independent of William Ruto’s input,” he added.

In the month of October 2021, William Ruto held 133 rallies in 20 counties in an all-out campaign.

During his visits, the deputy president has been meeting women, youths, leaders, congregations, and even commercial sex workers as he woes the hustler ahead of the much-awaited 2022 General Election.

The deputy president uses choppers to get to his destinations and a fleet of high-powered vehicles to criss-cross the markets and towns within the counties.
