Nominated senator Isaac Mwaura furious after losing UDA nominations

by Enock Ndayala

Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has refuted the just ended UDA nominations results that saw him lose to his arch-rival Simon Ng’ang’a.

This was after Simon Ng’ang’a King’ara floored Mwaura in Ruiru Parliamentary nominations to fly the UDA flag in the August 9, General Election.

Addressing his supporters on Friday, April 15, Mwaura termed the UDA nomination as a “fake” exercise calling for Deputy President William Ruto’s party to hold a fresh nomination.

The legislator claimed that his competitor had hired goons to disrupt the process adding that King’ara was a Jubilee mole in UDA.

“King’ara hired goons to disrupt the exercise…We are not going to allow this exercise to continue, we want it recalled. I want to tell the UDA party, we support it 100 percent and we are not going to allow its popularity to dwindle. We know there are people sent by Jubilee to ruin the party. We are the ones who have built this party,” Mwaura said.

Mwaura wondered how King’ara who joined UDA less than three weeks could easily trounce him yet he was among the pioneer founders of the party.

“Those sent by Jubilee have been there for less than three weeks but are being allowed in. We want the exercise to be repeated in the whole constituency because voting was not conducted in a majority of areas. We asked Deputy President William Ruto to intervene so that the Ruiru people can have their voices heard. Huu ni uchaguzi bonoko (this exercise is fake),” he said.

While aspirants cry foul over the jut-ended exercise, the deputy president said the party nominations exercise carried out on Thursday, April 14, across the country was largely successful safe for a few isolated challenges.

“The UDA has demonstrated that it is a national party. I want to thank and congratulate the millions of hustlers including aspirants who came out in large numbers to participate in this nomination exercise,” Ruto said.
