by Enock Ndayala
President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government has announced plans to challenge the High Court’s ruling banning the deployment of Kenya Police to Haiti.

Jubilee Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura’s position at the Senate has been filled by Former Samburu Senator Sammy Leshore.

Speaker Ken Lusaka gazzeted Mwaura’s removal on Tuesday after a decision by the Jubilee Party to expel him.

“It is notified for the information of the general public that pursuant to Article 103 (1) (e) (i) of the Constitution and section 37 of the Elections Act, the seat of the Member of the Senate elected under Article 98 (1) (d) of the Constitution and held by Hon. Isaac Mwaura Maigua became vacant, with effect from the 7th May, 2021,” read the Gazette notice signed by Lusaka.

Later the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission wrote another gazette notice, declaring Mwaura’s position to be vacant.

“The deleted nominee stands disqualified as the member to the Senate representing persons with disabilities,” read part of the notice by Chairman Wafula Chebukati statement on May 11.

After the two gazzete notices, Mwaura has made efforts of blocking his removal by appealing the decisions at the High Court.

Mwaura obtained a court order barring implementation of his removal until his petition is determined.

Later, he attended a session at the Senate where he voted yes to pass the constitution amendment bill.

This was a surprise move from Mwaura who is a loyal supporter of DP Ruto’s Tanga Tanga team which was against the BBI bill.

It is this allegiance to DP Ruto that cost him his seat at the Senate.

Jubilee Party called Mwaura for a disciplinary session after he publicly declared that he had joined the hustler nation, which supports UDA party.

After the hearing, the party’s NMC found Mwaura as disloyal to his party, hence recommending an expulsion.
