Notable names dropped from president Uhuru Kenyatta’s kitchen cabinet

by Nderi Caren

Since the March 2018 handshake, President Uhuru Kenyatta has had to make changes on his inner circle in order to accommodate his partner Raila Odinga.

And in order to make room for Raila, deputy president William Ruto became the first big victim to be kicked out of Uhuru’s kitchen Cabinet.

Together with his brigade, DP Ruto was slowly blocked from carrying his duties as the Deputy President.

However, it is not only Ruto who has suffered the fate of the handshake, but also other low-key persons in Uhuru’s inner circle.

Here are other notable victims of the handshake

Justin Muturi

According to sources at State House, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi’s relationship with Uhuru ia no longer as great as it was before.

And after noticing that he was out of Uhur’s Kitchen Cabinet, Muturi started to organize himself, hence the coronation as the Mt. Kenya spokesperson.

2. Jomo Gecaga

Having served as a personal secretary to his uncle President Uhuru Kenyatta for a long time, Jomo Gecaga is said to have been kicked out of the kitchen Cabinet.

Early this year, reports that Jomo had been fired by his uncle went viral.

Even though the reports remain unconfirmed, Jomo Gecaga is not seen with President Uhuru as it was the norm.

3. Nzioka Waita

Sources intimated to the Standard newspaper that President Uhuru’s digital strategist, Nzioka Waita no longer partakes in special functions at State House.

Waita was previously picked from telecommunication’s giant Safaricom around 2013 where he was the communication boss and was until recently a key figure in Uhuru’s State House communication circles.

4. Kithure Kindiki

Being a law Professor, the former Senate deputy speaker was also one of the people in President Uhuru’s inner circle.

However, Kindiki’s dalliance with William Ruto costed him his special spot in President Uhuru’s Kitchen Cabinet.

Before then, the two were very close as Kindiki was one of the top-notch lawyers who represented President Uhuru Kenyatta in the crimes against humanity charges in The Hague, Netherlands.

Even though William Ruto and his camp stand out as President Uhuru’s known enemies, he silently parted ways with these other allies in order to accommodate Raila Odinga.

Other than Raila, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’I has also stood out as president Uhuru’s new ally.

The CS has locked horns with Ruto several times, as the latter considers him one of those who rendered him ‘jobless’.
