Nyandarua County CEC nominee for lands, physical planning, and urbanization John Ndungu Muiru has won the Sport Pesa mid-week jackpot.
Muiru won KSh 38, 792, 902 jackpot on the night of Thursday, October 27, and presented himself at the Sport Pesa office on Saturday, October 29, after attending an hour-long vetting at the Nyandarua County Assembly.
An elated Muiru said he was among thousands of Kenyans who lost their jobs following the Corona Virus Pandemic that hit all sectors.
However, after being vetted for the County job and winning the jackpot, Muiru thanked God saying that good things have been happening in his life in the last two weeks.
“It is all God because I have not been in employment since my retirement when Covid-19 struck. Life has been hard since then but today I am really happy. In the last two weeks, good things have been happening in my life and it is like a dream,” Muiru said.
The Gor Mahia and Manchester City fan said he will use part of the money to support seminary students in their education.
Muiru however did not disclose whether he will proceed with his CEC job or will focus on investments.
Last month, Cosmas Korir, who won the KSh 208 Sportpesa mega jackpot in 2018, was elected the fourth speaker of the Bomet County Assembly.
Korir was declared the speaker of the county assembly after garnering 32 votes against his closest challenger Weldon Kirui who garnered a paltry 6 votes.
He used part of the winnings in helping equip local football as well as providing food to the elderly, disabled, and children’s homes.
Korir further channeled part of the lottery funds into worthwhile investments, purchasing apartments and pieces of land for himself.
