Nyeri governor challenges Raila to state what he’ll do for Mt Kenya people

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga uncharacteristically hit out at ODM leader Raila Odinga asking him to detail what he will do for the Mt Kenya people if he clinches the Presidential seat in 2022.

Speaking during Odinga’s tour of the region on Friday, November 26, Mutahi urged Raila Odinga to stop focusing on how beneficial he has been historically and talk about the future.

“It is not time to talk about history, it is time to talk about the present and where we are going. These Kikuyus from Mt Kenya want to hear what is there in your government for them,

“I also want to know. If you are given the government what do you have to offer us for our 5,000,000 votes?” Mutahi Kahiga asked Raila directly..

The Nyeri governor added that they have had enough of being promised the Deputy Presidential post by Raila Odinga.

“Don’t tell us about Deputy Presidency, that is a small issue, we have even seen those who have been given, what have they done with it,” he added.

The Nyeri Governor further pressed Raila Odinga to detail how many positions in his government will be allocated to the Mt Kenya people.

“We want to know how many cabinet secretaries you are giving us, how many PSs? What shall be our stake in this government?” Mutahi Kahiga posed.

He added that they are ready to porpularise Raila Odinga in the region, as long as he assures them of what they will get in return.

In his tour, Raila Odinga was treated to a warm reception, leading to his wife Ida getting a Kikuyu name; Nyawira.

This, he said, proves the unity between the Kikuyu and Luo communities which have been said to be enemies.

“The friendship between our two communities (Luo and Kikuyu) will last forever. I am sure wherever Jaramogi and Kenyatta are they are very happy,” he said.
