Nyeri Town MP hints Anne Waiguru’s greatest rival will return to Jubilee party

Nyeri Town MP Ngujiri Wambugu has hinted at Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici’s return to Jubilee Party after her rival Anne Waiguru’s crossed over to United Democratic Movement (UDA).

In a post on his social media page, Wambugu insinuated that Wangui Ngirici was the reason Kirinyaga county people were supporting Deputy President William Ruto.

He thus questioned what (Anne) Waiguru would do if Wangui Ngirici decides to return to Jubilee party ahead of the 2022 General Election.

“Waiguru says she is in UDA because Kirinyaga people are there. Assuming she is right, Kirinyaga people are there because someone did the heavy lifting and moved them from where Waiguru was, to where she is now following them to,

“So, If that person moves them again from where she has gone to find them; to somewhere else; will she still follow them?” the Nyeri Town MP posed in reference to Ngirici who has been in the recent past considered a strong William Ruto supporter and even bigger financier of UDA party affairs.

Wambugu’s statement came hours after Kirinyaga Governor officially joined UDA Party, where her main rival Wangui Ngirici has been a key player for long and aspires to vie for the county’s gubernatorial seat in 2022.

Waiguru said that her decision was influenced by people on the ground, and a keen study of the political wave.

“I asked for wisdom and I think I have listened. I have checked with members who are sitting here and I have even checked with people who are still on the other side,

“I have asked if it would amount to betrayal if I moved but the message I have been given is that in politics, you must be very careful to stay relevant,” Waiguru stated after a meeting with William Ruto.

Reacting to the news of Waiguru’s presence in UDA, her opponent Wangui Ngirici welcomed her, assuring her of a tough battle in the nominations.

However, Ngirici argued that she has already established her base among the Kirinyga electorate, and Waiguru’s defection will not affect her (Ngirici’s) political career.

“I think it is good to have competition. If you don’t compete, how do you know your strengths? But I have seen things on the ground and I know nothing is going to change,” Ngirici said.
