“I was told that if I make the mistake of leaving Jubilee or stop working with (President) Uhuru Kenyatta I should not dare run for Nyeri Town MP in 2022,” Wambugu said.

Ngujiri said after interacting with his constituents, he was convinced that ODM leader Raila Odinga was the most preferred candidate in the region for the 2022 presidential election.

He said that if the option on the 2022 ballot is between President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handshake partner and estranged deputy president Ruto then Raila is the safer bet.

Ngunjiri, an ardent defender of President Uhuru Kenyatta further stated that he was categorically informed that Nyeri Town will support the Presidential candidate in whose hands they will safe.

“They told me when electing leaders one must evaluate each candidate based on how they behave at their worst,” he added.

According to him, the people of Mt Kenya believe that they will be safe under the leadership of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga since he is better than William Ruto at his worst.

“We have seen Raila (Odinga) at his worst. We have also seen (William) Ruto at his worst. Raila, at his worst; is better than Ruto, at his worst,” he said.
