ODM MP tells ex-president Uhuru to keep off Raila’s protests

Rtd. President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday, February 12, joined his handshake partner Raila Odinga in his anti-government weekly protests.

The former Head of State who was speaking in Luanda, Vihiga County after attending the burial of former Education CS George Magoha asserted that he remains firmly behind Raila Odinga.

Raila is spearheading rallies across the country to pressure President William Ruto and his government to resign, stating that the young regime is illegitimate.

However, on Thursday, February 16, Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi asked President William Ruto’s predecessor to keep off Azimio rallies.

The ODM legislator who was addressing journalists stated that they are not convinced about what value the former head of state was adding to ODM leader Raila Odinga’s rallies.

He said Uhuru’s presence in Azimio rallies will significantly reduce Raila’s gains as Kenyans may think that he is the one bankrolling the protests.

“As the followers of Baba, we are not convinced that Uhuru is going to add any value. In fact, if anything, he is going to reduce the gains that Baba has made all these years because the presence of Uhuru in our rallies is continuously destroying our image of opposition,” Amisi said.

The lawmaker instead challenged ex-president Uhuru Kenyatta to go to his vote-rich Mt Kenya region and hold his own rallies with Jubilee party remnants if at all he wants to support Raila’s protests.

“Let him go to central and hold a rally and let him go tell central people that I’m coming here to tell you to support Baba… Let him hold his own rallies with the few remnants, he has from Jubilee and ask the people of mlima to support Baba,” added Amisi.
