ODM MP welcomes William Ruto to Raila’s camp

by Nderi Caren

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati has asked Deputy President William Ruto to consider joining Raila’s camp ahead of the 2022 General Election.

In a meeting with Mt Kenya delegates at Chungwa House on Wednesday, November 10, the ODM MP said joining Raila’s camp will be a wise decision for William Ruto.

“We ask our brother William Ruto, if he gets to a point of thinking wisely, he should come. Raila Odinga will lead easily and the country will be at peace,” he said.

At the occasion, Raila Odinga said his popularity in the Mt Kenya region cannot be compared to that of William Ruto.

“My other name is Tinga Tinga(tractor), between a tractor and a wheelbarrow which one can climb the mountain fast?” Odinga posed.

Raila Odinga also called for political tolerance when presidential candidates visit any region in the country.

“Kenya belongs to all of us, each Kenyan has a right to tour any region, that is what our fore fathers wanted,” he said.

His calls comes at a day when DP William Ruto was met with violence at Raila Odinga’s backyard in the Nyanza region.

During one of his rallies at Kondele area in Kisumu, William Ruto’s convoy was stoned, forcing police officers to lob teargas to disperse the rowdy youths.

Even as Raila Odinga calls for political tolerance, William Ruto has accused him of planning the Kisumu violence.

“You are the ones who will decide, I am asking my friends, the leader of ODM.. please let us not use our children to throw stones and cause violence.

These young people deserve jobs, and an atmosphere to work, they should not be misused,” William Ruto said in a subsequent rally at Migori County.
