by Enock Ndayala

ODM National Chairman John Mbadi has expressed surprise at Deputy President William Ruto has been combative in campaign rallies in the recent past.

Speaking at Chungwa House during a meeting with Marsabit leaders on Wednesday, November 17, the Suba South Member of Parliament urged the deputy president and his allies to keep their campaign agenda professional.

“We do not want that anger. Ask for votes with calmness and humility,” Mbadi said.

He was speaking in response to the recent verbal attack by William Ruto against governor Kiraitu Murungi and James Nyoro of Kiambi county.

ODM National Chairman John Mbadi has expressed surprise at the recent moves by Deputy President William Ruto to throw sparks at the campaign rallies.

Mbadi further urged the deputy president to emulate his perceived competitor Raila Odinga in popularising his 2022 presidential ambition to succeed the retiring President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Suba South MP told William Ruto to popularise his bottom-up economic model to the electorates in a calm manner and, if they like it, then they will elect him.

“That’s what you see Baba (Raila Odinga) talking about. You can’t imagine someone as old as he is begging and asking people for their support,” he said.

During his tour of the Meru County to campaign ahead of his titanic battle for the presidency with Raila Odinga, the 2022 presidential contender told Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi to stop selling Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in Mt Kenya.

Ruto accused the Meru governor of imposing Raila Odinga on the electorates instead of allowing them to choose their preferred presidential candidate.

“People like Kiraitu (Murungi) should stop playing with us,” William Ruto said.

Addressing the crowd in sheng, and castigating those trying to front a Raila presidency, Ruto said: “Wanatubeba ufala! (they are taking us for fools)” amid cheers from his supporters.

Kiraitu on his part said he expects some decency from William Ruto who he says have differed on ideologies.

“I myself have never come out to say William is this or that, so him coming to say niko na ujinga, my friend I went to Havard, I couldn’t have gone to Harvard if I was foolish,” Governor Kiraitu said.
