The ODM leadership has condemned Jimmy Wanjigi’s harassment at Migori County, in the Nyanza region on Friday.

It further said that investigations will be launched into the matter after coordinating with their party offices in Migori County.

“We have learnt of unfortunate incidents of Violence in Migori involving Mr. Jimmy Wanjigi. The Party takes this early opportunity to condemn the incidents & urge for tolerance & accommodation of every  political view.We urge Police in Migori to ensure culprits are brought to book,” read a statement by ODM.

The Party’s Secretary General Edwin Sifuna further promised to follow up on the issue of Wanjigi’s harassment and make sure the presidential contestant is safe.

“My office is in contact with the ODM party office in Migori for a full brief on reported cases of violence targeted at one of our members Mr. Jimmy Wanjigi. I have also tried to reach Mr. Wanjigi on phone to confirm he is OK,” Edwin Sifuna said.

After a rowdy crowd pelted stones on Jimmy Wanjigi in Migori, he promised to stay unbowed and proceed with his Nyanza tour.

In a press conference at the neighbouring Kisii County Wanjigi said the violence metted upon him is a threat to democracy.

“I would not be cowed. We will be in Siaya county tomorrow (Saturday) and Kisumu on Sunday and later return to Migori. We will keep moving on. Democracy is for all of us and not for some of us,” he said.

The businessman received rebellion from Raila Odinga’s turf for spreading anti-Raila messages.

In a roadside rally, Wanjigi told residents to answer with ‘Fagia Wote’ when he mentions ODM.

The rebellious Raila Odinga supporters answered with ‘Chungwa’ the common slogan of ODM. In no time, the ‘Chungwa movement’ got irritated at Wanjigi’s persistence and stoned him.
