ODM worried about Jimmy Wanjigi’s bad intentions at the party

by Enock Ndayala

Presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi could be locked out of the party’s presidential ticket if the recent remarks by party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna are anything to go by.

Appearing on Spice FM’s morning show dubbed the situation room, on Wednesday, September 22, Sifuna read malice in Jimmy Wanjigi’s intention for the party.

According to Sifuna, Wanjigi may have a conspiracy and a bad intention for the ODM party ahead of the 2022 General Election.

“His intention is not to support the party. He has ulterior intentions that he will tell us when the time is right,” he said.

Sifuna further stated that Wanjigi has not officially presented himself for the party’s presidential ticket yet he is making very sensitive demands regarding how the party should conduct its party primaries.

“First of all, he has not presented himself for the presidential ticket. Jimi Wanjigi is not a candidate for the party’s presidential ticket,” Sifuna stated.

He went further to claim that the businessman was demanding that only one of the four methods in the party constitution be used to pick the ODM presidential flagbearer in the 2022 General Election.

“An individual comes and says that I ascribe to these rules but I will only insist on a direct ticket,” said ODM party Secretary-General.

Sifuna’s sentiments come barely days after Wanjigi said he will not relent in his quest to battle with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for the party’s presidential ticket adding that he will concede defeat if beaten by the veteran politician fairly.

“I am confident that I will win a good majority of these delegates because the time for fresh leadership in the party and in the country has come. I will, however, support my party leader Raila Odinga should I lose in a free and fair nomination,” he said.
