ODM party says it’s not desperate to see OKA support Raila Odinga

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has said it is not despairing to see the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) support Raila Odinga in his 2022 presidential bid.

This comes barely days after ANC leader Musalia Mudavdi and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka said they are being compelled to support Raila Odinga’s presidency.

But in an exclusive interview with TV47 on Wednesday, November 3, ODM party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna dismissed claims saying that since the dissolution of the National Super Alliance (NASA), the orange party has never coerced anyone to support them.

“Since the collapse of the NASA alliance we have not forced or coerced anyone to support us,” Sifuna said.

Sifuna further said Raila Odinga’s party which is in advanced talks with the Jubilee party to ink a partnership deal is ready and willing to work with OKA principals Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), Gideon Moi (Kanu), and Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper).

“I have said that anyone who wants to come and support the ODM party in our quest for victory in 2022 is welcome,

“We will not close the door on anyone even if he comes with a single vote because that one vote may give us the victory,” Sifuna added.

On Saturday, October 30, President Uhuru Kenyatta reportedly met OKA principals where it emerged that the first in command allegedly coerced them to support Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential ambition claiming that they all have a common enemy.

But speaking ATG Church in Thika town in the company of other OKA principals during a thanksgiving service and a Harambee, Mudavadi said he will not be forced to support someone stating that leadership comes from the people.

“It is Kenyans who have the power to pick the leader they want. Let us forget the propaganda being peddled around to force some of us to support someone. I have said this before and I will repeat it everywhere I go. Leadership comes from the people and the people must decide,” Mudavadi said.
