The ODM party has taken a swipe at Deputy President Wiliam Ruto for claiming there are attempts to rig the 2022 presidential elections.

Addressing journalists on Thursday, March 3, ODM party National Chairman John Mbadi said that Ruto has sensed defeat and that he is setting the stage to dispute the outcome of the August 9 presidential results.

The Suba South MP further wondered why the former Agriculture Minister started crying wolf immediately the Head of State threw his weight behind the ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The ODM party has taken a swipe at Deputy President Wiliam Ruto for claiming there are attempts to rig the 2022 presidential elections.

According to Mbadi, Ruto is dropping the clearest hint that the head of state might do exactly what they have been doing to their long-term political nemesis Raila Odinga, especially in the 2013 and 2017 General Election.

“Is William Ruto telling us that he has been participating in rigging the previous elections? Is he admitting that? And if not why does he think that this time election will be stolen? Is it because President Uhuru Kenyatta has shown Kenyans that he is supporting Raila Odinga?”Mbadi posed.

The Minority Leader at the National Assembly was reacting to William Ruto’s claims that the Kenyan democracy is under threat from unnamed state agencies.

Ruto who was speaking in Maryland during his tour of the United States on Wednesday, March 2, appealed to the global community to intervene and stop attempts to rig the August 9 presidential election.

He claimed there is growing concern amongst Kenyans about the deliberate intrusion of state agencies to manipulate decisions of the Kenyan people ahead of the August polls.

“The biggest issue that is on the ballot is the democracy of our nation and whether we truly have the opportunity to make free choices devoid of blackmail, threats, and intimidation. That’s the matter that is on the ballot,” William Ruto said.
