by Enock Ndayala

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has claimed that the ODM party picked Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya’s nephew to succeed him.

ODM has fronted former Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) boss Fernandes Barasa to battle it out with UDA’s Cleophas Malala.

On Wednesday, May 11, Barasa picked Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula as his running mate in the August 9, General Election. Both Savula and Barasa were eying the gubernatorial seat under the Azimio la Umoja-OK.

But speaking in Kabras moments after Malala claimed that the ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya is the uncle to Azimio gubernatorial hopeful Fernandes Barasa.

“Savula ndiye amenyang’anya naibu wa gavana Phili Kutima tiketi ya DAP. Kumbe yeye alikuwa anapewa hiyo tiketi ili mkabaras asiwanie kiti cha ugavana. Na sasa hivi wameambia savula a step down awe deputy gavana ya Fernandes Barasa ambaye ni mtoto wa dada ya mama wa Oparanya aje achukue hatamu za uongozi kutoka kwa mjomba yake,”

“Savula snatched the Kakamega deputy governor Phili Kutima’s DAP ticket. He was given the ticket so that the Kabras tribe does not field a gubernatorial candidate

Now they have told Savula a step down to be the deputy governor of Fernandes Barasa who is the son of the sister to Oparanya’s mother to come and take the lead from his uncle,” Malala said.

The deal by Savula to shelve his gubernatorial ambitions and back Barasa was reached after DAP-K agreed to withdraw all candidates in Kakamega with ODM withdrawing its candidates in Trans Nzoia.

Malala said he was not afraid of the Azimio line-up stating that he will beat Barasa to succeed Governor Oparanya in the August 9, polls.

“Bring it on!! I am ready for any political formation being fronted by Azimio against our Kenya Kwanza outfit,” Malala said.
