ODM SG claims presidential team not inviting Raila allies to state functions

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has assured President William Ruto that he will still lose in the 2027 presidential race even if he names Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro as his presidential running mate.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna now claims that leaders who were elected on Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party ticket are being excluded from state functions.

Speaking during an interview on KTN News on Tuesday, October 4, Sifuna said since William Ruto was sworn in as the fifth president, Raila allies have not been receiving invites to state functions.

“You can ask the presidential team whether I was invited when Ruto was touring the construction site in Mukuru. I certainly did not receive any invitation. The other leaders have confirmed the same,” Sifuna said.

The Nairobi senator was speaking in reference to the recent state functions where a section of Azimio leaders allegedly skipped President Ruto’s functions.

For instance, Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga, and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma among other allies of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga skipped President William Ruto’s Homa Bay visit on Sunday, October 2.

The duo blamed Ruto’s team for poor communication while explaining their absence at the church event graced by the president.

Sifuna further cited an example of a function held at Mukuru, Nairobi County where he together with other allies of Raila Odinga was not invited.

The Head of State was at Mukuru Kwa Reuben when he preside over the ground-breaking ceremony for the affordable housing project where more than 15,000 affordable housing units will be set up.

Despite being President Ruto’s first project to preside over as the First in Command, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna disclosed that they were not invited.
