One Kenya Alliance plan to lock Ruto, Raila out of Mt Kenya

The One Kenya Alliance (OKA)  principals have reached out to the Mt Kenya Forum members in a bid to create a third force that will counter William Ruto and Raila Odinga in the 2022 elections.

The team made up of Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Gideon Moi reached out to Martha Karua, William Kabogo, and speaker Justin Muturi to kick start coalition talks.

In a meeting held on November 23, the OKA leaders together with the Mt Kenya forum agreed to form a third force that will counter the narrative that the 2022 race is between Ruto and Raila.

According to the People daily, the group agreed to work on an MOU that would bar any party within the coalition from entering into a pre-election deal with Ruto or Raila Odinga.

“The teams discussed how to work together ahead of 2022. They will ink agreements on how that will be done and their plans involve locking out Raila and Ruto in their arithmetic. They feel they can marshal the needed support to be a third force,” a source told People daily.

Additionally, the group explored the possibility of having a Musalia Mudavadi- Martha Karua presidential ticket to counter Ruto and Raila.

We came together to explore the possibilities of working together. We belong to Kenya and none of us can do it alone. That is what today’s meeting was all about,” Martha Karua told the press after the meeting.

With Mudavadi-Karua ticket in the offing, the Narc Kenya leader has stood out as the most preferred deputy presidential candidate in the Mt Kenya region.

This could be the reason why the One Kenya Alliance has reached out to the Mt Kenya Forum Chairperson in a bid to increase its chances of winning the central region vote.
