Gideon Moi skips key meeting with coalition partners Kalonzo, Wetangula, and Mudavadi

Gideon Moi is on the spot over his wavering allegiance to the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) as he skips meeting where his co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula, and Musalia Mudavadi meet often to discuss the coalitions future steps.

Questions have been raised over Gideon’s political stand, as he missed a meeting held by his co-principals at a Nairobi hotel yesterday.

The three met without him to discuss their next political step following Raila Odinga’s party ongoing discussions with Jubilee party for a coalition agreement ahead of 2022 General Election.

Reports indicate that this was the second meeting in a row the Baringo Senator snubbed.

KANU Secretary General Nick Salat told the Daily Nation that Gideon snubbed last week’s One Kenya Alliance meeting because he had engagements at a committee in the senate.

With Gideon’s wavering support, Kalonzo Musyoka(Wiper) Musalia Mudavadi(ANC) and Moses Wetangula(FORD Kenya) are at crossroads on whether to end the NASA Coalition, in which they are with Raila Odinga’s ODM party..

According to a source privy to the June 22 meeting, the 3 principals are ready to work with Gideon, but if he is unwilling, they will move to resuscitate the NASA coalition.

“We are committed to the One Kenya Alliance and are ready to leave NASA. If some people are not committed, we can rebuild NASA as a coalition,” a source privy to the discussions told Daily Nation.

The trio was in a coalition with ODM before entering into an agreement with Gideon’s KANU to form One kenya Alliance which was then believed to have the blessings of president Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, since their NASA partner Raila Odinga is planning a coalition with Jubilee Party, the three party leaders are uncertain of the future of NASA.

The planned coalition between ODM and Jubilee has left the four NASA principals pointing fingers at each other, with betrayal accusations flying over the air.

When ODM announced its planned union with Jubilee, Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi accused Raila of failing to honour the NASA agreement made in 2017 which mandated the former Prime Minister to support either Kalonzo or Mudavadi for the presidency in 2022.

On the other hand, ODM Deputy Party leader Ali Hassan Joho claimed that Kalonzo and Mudavadi were the first people to break the NASA agreement.

Joho said that Kalonzo had entered into an agreenment with Jubilee way before ODM.

Also, he termed Kalonzo and Mudavadi’s decision to form the One Kenya Alliance as betrayal.
