Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has silenced his critics who have been mocking him for not accompanying ODM leader Raila Odinga on his London tour a few days ago.

The ODM deputy party leader said he did not have serious business in the diaspora adding that he was too busy to accompany Raila.

“Raila ameenda huko ng’ambo, wansema ati mluyhia hajaenda. Mimi si kuwa na kazi huko (London). Nilikuwa na kazi nyingi hapa. Raila ndio alikuwa na kazi huko,”

“They claim no Luhya leader accompanied Raila on his trip to the UK. So, you wanted me to go? I did not have any business there. It is Raila who had business in the UK, not me,” Oparanya said.

“Mlitaka mimi niende huko nibebe file Mudavadi alikuwa anabebea Ruto? Ama nyinyi hamkuona….Mliona Mudavadi akibeba file nyuma ya Ruto? Mnataka Oparanya afanye hiyo na mimi ni gavana wa Kakamega? Si hiyo ingekuwa aibu kwenu?

(You wanted me to accompany Raila Odinga and carry files around like Mudavadi was doing for William Ruto on his US-UK tour? You wanted Wycliffe Oparanya to do reduce himself into Raila’s personal assistant and I am the governor of kakamega. Won’t that have been an embarrassment to you people of Kakamega?) went on the former planning minister amid cheers from the crowd.
