Outspoken lawyer claims Jubilee party offering Ruto’s allies KSh 20 million to defect

Ahmednasir Abdullahi has sensationally claimed that the Jubilee party is offering William Ruto's allies Ksh 20 million to defect.

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdulahi has sensationally claimed that the Jubilee party is offering Deputy President William Ruto’s allies Ksh 20 million each to defect.

In a tweet on Friday, March 25, the outspoken lawyer compared President Uhuru’s led party to a pension fund saying politicians receiving the money will lose in the upcoming elections.

The lawyer sarcastically opined those politicians who have little chances of winning in the next election, only need to say they are supporters of DP Ruto and they will be given the cash on the defection.

“My beloved Jubilee party is now Kenya’s biggest pension fund. Every politician who has no chance of winning any seat (in August election) defects to it and collects Ksh 5-20 million (name recognition is critical), and will retire peacefully from politics for the next 5 years.” Ahmednasir wrote on Twitter.

The controversial lawyer joins other Ruto’s allies who have condemned the Jubilee party for using public resources to entice the yet-to-be registered Kenya Kwanza Alliance aspirants to defect.

Recently Deputy President William Ruto faulted the Jubilee government for harassing United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants, especially in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region.

In a statement on Thursday, March 17, UDA National Election Board (NEB) Chairperson Anthony Mwaura said President Uhuru’s administration has been forcing UDA aspirants in some parts of the Mt Kenya region, Kisii, and Nyamira counties to quit UDA and join the ruling outfit.

“The UDA has noted with concerns the dismay the underhand illegal tactics being displayed by the depleted and desperate Jubilee party through government agencies to dissuade our aspirants from contesting in the August elections,

“Several UDA MCA aspirants from Kirinyaga have been called and forced to join the (Jubilee) party. They have been promised money and logistical support,” Mwaura said.

Among leaders who have defected to Jubilee from UDA include, MPs Joyce Emanikor (County MP), James Lomenen (Turkana South), and Lokiru Ali Mohammed (Turkana East) all from Turkana county.

Jubilee party also recently received 50 UDA coordinators from Kirinyaga who had joined the ruling party.
