Mumias East MP Peter Salasya on Monday, October 17, invited a lady who offered to be his wife for a lunch date with her at the Parliament.

This was after the lady identified as Lydia Erad asked for a hand in marriage with the legislator describing herself as a God-fearing, hardworking and humble woman who would make a perfect wife for the MP.

“Tomorrow (Tuesday, October 18) I invite you for a lunch in the parliament buildings. You will have the privilege to have lunch with members,” Salasya said in a Tweet.

However, on Tuesday, October 18, took to social media to confirm that he had finally met the lady.

Salasya, who boosts of being single since 2017 when he emerged last in the Mumias East parliamentary seat after garnering 254 votes, congratulated Lydia for her brave actions

“As I told you that I will invite her for lunch, we have had lunch with her and I pledge to support her fulfill her dreams in her life,” Salasya said.

The legislator however failed to agree with Lydia’s request stating that he is currently focused on his work as a legislator.

“I know I have a lot of work in my Constituency at the moment which might not allow me to focus so much on the other side,” he said ostensibly referring to marriage.

Lydia became internet sensational after her video holding a placard with the MP’s photo written ‘MP Peter Salasya Marry Me Please Mheshimiwa’ went viral last week.

She promised not to let down the legislator if he will give in to his request to be his helper.

“I promise him that if chooses me to be his wife I won’t disappoint him,” Lydia was heard saying amid laughter from onlookers.
