Police launch investigation into alleged abduction of William Ruto’s man

by Enock Ndayala

The National Police Service (NPS) has commenced investigations into the alleged abduction of Deputy President William Ruto‘s man Dennis Itumbi.

In a statement to newsrooms on Friday, December 24, NPS Spokesperson Bruno Shioso urged members of the public to desist from speculating on circumstances surrounding the incident.

This was after allies of the Deputy President William Ruto claimed that the abduction of William Ruto’s digital strategist was orchestrated by police officers.

The National Police Service (NPS) has commenced investigations into the alleged abduction of Deputy President William Ruto’s man.

“Police have since launched an investigation with a view to establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident. We appeal to members of the public to be patient during the investigation and should, therefore, desist from speculation,” read the statement in part.

Itumbi went missing on Thursday, December 23, after he was reportedly picked up by unknown three unknown men at Thindigua in Kiambu County.

The controversial blogger is said to have been forced into a Toyota Premio vehicle after leaving a barbershop.

The criminal squad grabbed Itumbi’s phone, handcuffed him from behind, and tied his legs with a rope before speeding off towards Nairobi.

Itumbi was later found in the wee hours of the morning of Friday, December 24, according to his family and associates who indicated that he had been tortured.

While other sources claim that William Ruto’s man was found by a Taxi driver in the Lucky Summer area, Kasarani, Itumbi’s brother David Itumbi said the controversial blogger was found at Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital.

He is currently receiving treatment at Nairobi West Hospital.

Tanga Tanga Members of Parliament have since maintained that Itumbi’s abduction was politically motivated due to his close relationship with the deputy president.

In his statement, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa expressed his criticism over the response of the police to the situation.

“Itumbi is a resilient and gallant soldier of the Hustler Nation. IG Mutyambai and CS Matiang’i know that as you prepare your PR statements today,” he stated.
