“Happy birthday Jakom (Raila Odinga). May you be blessed with many more,” he wrote.

William Ruto and Raila Odinga are considered the frontrunners ahead of the highly anticipated presidential election to be held on August 9, 2022.

The duo worked closely during the 2005 referendum, enjoying a cordial relationship up to the chaotic 2007/08 General Election.

They even served in the same Grand Coalition government with Raila as prime minister and William Ruto serving in several ministries; Higher Education and Agriculture.

However, the two fell out mid-way through retired President Mwai Kibaki’s term with Ruto leading campaigns against the current constitution which was overwhelmingly voted for in 2010 through a referendum.

William Ruto later teamed up with Uhuru Kenyatta where they successfully vied for the presidency in 2013 and 2017 against Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as the running-mate.

Other political figures allied to President Uhuru and his handshake partner Raila and those allied to William Ruto have also wished the ODM leader a happy birthday.
