On Monday, June 27, Orange Democratic Movement Edwin Sifuna Secretary-General revealed that Singer Bahati will be dropping out of the Mathare parliamentary contest.

According to Sifuna, the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party had settled on the current MP Antiny Ouloch to defend his seat.

The coalition whose presidential candidate is Raila Odinga is reorganize its candidates across the country with the aim of talking some candidates out of the race.

However, the popular musician dismissed that claims that he had dropped out of the Mathare parliament.

Through a Twitter post on Monday June 27, the singer accused the ODM Secretary-general of receiving a 3 million bribe from Oluoch so as to confuse his supporters.

Bahati blasted Sifuna saying he has no powers to give him a job in the Azimio government in the event Raila wins the election.

“Edwin Sifuna, ushalambishwa mita tatu na my loosing opponent to lie that I have stepped down and ‘you’ will offer me a job in the Azimio government. Unanipea kazi kama nani?” Bahati said.

The Barua hitmaker warned Sifuna to keep off the Mathare politics saying he might end up losing his senatorial bid if he doesn’t stop meddleing in other people’s affairs.

“Kaa mbali na siasa ya Mathare, Fagia kwako ama utashindwa tena kama 2017, (Stay away from politics of Mathare, concentrate on your bid or you will fail like 2017) he added.

Earlier on, Bahati had taken to Facebook to warn Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition party politicians against misleading Mathare Constituency voters about his candidature.

“Dear Azimio… stop misleading the voters of Mathare. Bahati – MP Mathare has not stepped down for anyone,” Bahati said in a Facebook post.

Speaking during a joint delegates meeting of ODM and Jubilee on Monday, June 27, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said Bahati was a casualty of the ongoing zoning exercise.

“Zoning was done perfectly even here in Mathare we have agreed that it’s an ODM zone. We only have one candidate in Mathare and that is Anthony Oluoch,” Sifuna said.

“This young man called Bahati is my younger brother and we will talk. I will make sure that we find him another position within the Azimio government,” he added.

Initialy Jubilee party revoked his nominations and asked the singer to withdraw from the race forcing him to break into tears.
