He said he was hurriedly taken to the interview by his handlers and that he forgot to wear his ring.

“In a hurry to come here, they (handlers) told me to go and dress up. In the process of all that, I forgot my (wedding) ring,” President Ruto said.

Ruto said it was interesting that his wedding ring was a subject of discussion.

The Head of State went ahead to reveal that the wedding ring he wears during the 9 pm interview was a replacement after the original one got worn out.

He said he bought his original ring and that of First Lady Mama Rachael Ruto at Nagin Pattni in the year 1991 when they tied the note.

Ruto further revealed that their wedding rings cost them KSh 700 each.

“When Rachael and I got married in 1991, we went to Nagin Pattni and bought rings there. Each ring cost us KSh 700. My ring got tired along the way,” he said.

As such, the immediate former deputy president tasked his wife Rachael Ruto to help him replace the worn-out ring.

The Head of State however maintains that since he bought the second ring, he does not wear it continuously adding that he only wears it during religious matters.

“Rachael took a long to get a replacement. So, when she eventually got a replacement, I decided to wear it religiously,” he said.
