Kenya’s President William Ruto has revealed plans to teach Kenya Kwanza leaders table manners.

Speaking during the Kenya Kwanza parliamentary group meeting in Naivasha on Thursday, September 16, the Head of State said it was embarrassing that some senior government officials do not know how to hold a fork.

As such, the president said that leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza alliance will be taken through training on etiquette during the political faction’s Parliamentary Group retreat in Naivasha.

“Tomorrow we are going to have a session to show a bit of etiquette, to show how to hold a fork. Sometimes we get embarrassed when we have big leaders who do not know how to hold a spoon,

“We will take time tomorrow so that we can mentor everybody. We cannot take things for granted. To the seniors who are here, let’s mentor the newcomers. Don’t harass the young ones, show them how CDF works, and show them how committees work,” William Ruto said.

The First in Command said this after a video of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua holding a fork wrongly surfaced online during a state house luncheon.

Ruto who defeated his arch-rival Raila Odinga in the August 9, presidential elections further ruled out the possibility of appointing leaders from the opposition to the Cabinet.

Ruto said Opposition plays a crucial role in the development and democracy of a country, and as such, their role in keeping the Kenya Kwanza government in check is appreciated.

“We have accepted that we are not going to appoint any member of the opposition to government because we want a vibrant opposition and an opposition that will keep us in check,” Ruto said.
