President Uhuru attacks his deputy for dishonesty during Sagana meeting.

by Amos Khaemba

President Uhuru Kenyatta used the Sagana 3 meeting to attack his Deputy William Ruto only falling short of calling him a serial liar.

In addressing thousands of residents who had converged at Sagana State Lodge on Wednesday 23 February, President Uhuru called his assistant a dishonest leader.

While addressing the genesis of his handshake with the ODM leader Raila Odinga, the president said it was wrong for DP Ruto to claim he was betrayed yet he was aware of the handshake from the beginning.

“I told Ruto what we were discussing with Raila and explained why I had to look for him. He was the last person I talked to before the handshake and he agreed to it. When he says I didn’t rope him in it is not factual,” the head of state said.

The head of State further revealed that DP Ruto was strongly opposed to the handshake even though it was meant to bring peace to the country.

“He had been telling me to stand firm and not share the government but my gate and his have guards, the people who were suffering did not have guards, their kiosks were being burnt in Kawangware. I decided I had to reach out and I kept him in the loop,” President Uhuru said.

While questioning DP Ruto’s fundraising and donation, President Uhuru indirectly linked the deputy to the Arror Kamwarer dam scandals.

“We all give offerings in church depending on our financial capabilities. If someone offers stolen money that was to be used to build dams in Elgeyo Marakwet for God’s children to drink water…” Uhuru stated.

While responding to recent criticism by DP Ruto and his allies over the state of the economy in the country, President Uhuru said the Kenya Kwanza team lacked the moral authority to lecture him on the status of the economy yet they failed to deliver when they were in charge.

“One and a half years Munya as Agriculture CS has brought immense growth to the sector…yet some people who were in the ministry say they will bring development they couldn’t before,” the president said.

The president at the same time accused the deputy president of having contributed to the collapse of key sectors of the economy during his reign as Agriculture minister.

The head of state said it was wrong to call youths hustlers yet DP Ruto has contributed to the economic suffering of Kenyans.

“Those who destroyed your livelihoods in tea and coffee are the ones who are telling you that you are hustlers,” a visibly angry president said.

While highlighting the developmental projects initiated by his government, the president hit out at the Kenya Kwanza team for saying the Jubilee government has not delivered on its promises.
