President Uhuru attends ODM national delegates meeting

by Amos Khaemba

President Uhuru Kenyatta has today Saturday, February 26 attended the ODM National Delegates Convention that endorsed Raila Odinga as its presidential candidate.

Addressing the delegates, the president defended the ODM leader against the accusation that he is a man of violence.

“I am not here because of Raila the politician. I have competed with him in politics. I am here because of Raila Odinga the leader. Raila is not a troublemaker. He is a peacemaker. I only want good leadership of our country and the choice is yours.” President Uhuru said.

“Raila is not a man of war. If he was a man of war, he would have resisted any attempt at peace with President Kibaki, he would have resisted any attempts to have the handshake,” President Uhuru added.

The president commended the former prime minister for putting the interest ahead of personal ambitions during the handshake period.

“Raila had the love of this country to know that a handshake was important for us to unite our country,” the president stated.

The head of state further revealed that their new coalition dubbed Azimio One Kenya Alliance will be unveiling its presidential candidate within two weeks.

The Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka skipped the ODM NDC even though he sent Chirau Mwakwere to represent him.

The Wiper party chairman said Kalonzo was attending to other matters which both President Uhuru and the ODM leader were preview to.

“For reasons known to these leaders, our party leader could not make it to this NGC,” Mwakwere said.

Other leaders who graced the ODM event include the KANU leader Gideon Moi and Cyrus Jirongo of the United Democratic Party (UDP) who are both members of One Kenya Alliance.
