President Uhuru blasts church leaders taking William Ruto’s money. ‘You’ll go to hell’

The battle for the August 9 presidential election is shaping up to what can be termed a two-horse race between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta indirectly criticized church leaders taking Deputy President William Ruto’s money and donations in the house of God.

While addressing delegates of the Mt Kenya region on Wednesday, February 23 during the now-famous Sagana 3 meeting, the head of state faulted some religious leaders for being used to mislead the public after receiving alleged looted money from the deputy president.

“Church leaders should stop lying to our people. Don’t lie to our people because you’ve been given stolen money from the public coffers. Such preachers will go to hell,” President Uhuru said.

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has sharply criticized church leaders taking Deputy President William Ruto’s money.

He further accused the former Agriculture Minister of lying to churches that the millions he used to donate to the churches, especially during the first Jubilee stint were from his boss.

“He (William Ruto) even used to lie to churches that I sent him to give my donations to the churches,” he added.

The president however cautioned the Mt Kenya residents against falling into ‘lies’ propagated by the 2022 presidential candidates in an apparent reference to his William Ruto.

In an indirect attack on the deputy president, Uhuru claimed he was after his own selfish interests and didn’t care about their welfare.

“When some people speak and tell you many things, a lot of lies, some even lying to you how much they love you, I want to show you what we have been doing. When they lie to you about what has been done or hasn’t been done, show them the projects we’ve been up to,” President Uhuru said.

For the last four years, Deputy President William Ruto has been under sharp criticism over his unending church visits, and harambees conducted almost every Sunday.

Raila has been castigating Ruto for dishing out millions of shillings in church donations and fundraisers. According to the ODM leader, the second in command has been giving out monies received from proceeds of corruption.
