The actor has been living with diabetes for over twenty years now. He was also diagnosed with Kidney failure in November 2020 and has since been going for dialysis twice a week which drained his family finances.

On Sunday, June 11, Gibson held a fundraiser to help him raise KSh 6 million needed for his kidney transplant scheduled in July at an Eldoret Hospital.

Speaking to Tuko.co.ke, the father of four said Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta was among the guest, friends, family, and religious institutions that contributed to the fundraiser.

Gibson revealed that the Head of State contributed a whopping KSh 2 million.

He expressed gratitude to Kenyans who contributed to his treatment stating that preparations for his kidney transplant are in top gear.

“It (the fundraiser) went well… the amount raises allow me to start preparing for transplant,” he said.

Others who contributed to his kidney transplant include Ngumo Kahiga, Chief Manager Marketing and Public Relations Co-operative Bank of Kenya, the MD Jambopay, the committee, MCA for Mihango ward, Paul Kados, and Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Polycarp Igathe.

Kenyans in diaspora, the Vicar St Catherine Ack Tumaini, and the faithful, Chrisco Church Kayole, and the MD KBC and TUKO.co.ke family were also among those who the actor thanked for their massive support.
