The cold war between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto took a horrible turn on Wednesday, July 27.
The deputy president has in most of his political rallies faulted his boss for endorsing Raila Odinga who is William Ruto’s bitter rival in the August 9, presidential election.
During the presidential debate on Tuesday, July 26, UDA party presidential flag bearer William Ruto took credit for the Jubilee achievements as he accused his boss of the failures of the same government.
For instance, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader said the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) was a noble idea but had been taken over by State capture, thus making it a grandiose project with little benefit to the people.
In May 2022, Ruto who spoke in Nairobi further said President Kenyatta’s administration replaced the initial plan of building an industrial city in Naivasha with an inland container depot.
However, speaking when he launched the revitalized 217km Nakuru – Kisumu Meter Gauge Railway (MGR) and the Nakuru central railway station, Uhuru accused his deputy of telling lies.
The outgoing Head of State said the second in command was part of the Executive team that approved the building of the SGR and even laid out operation protocol.
Uhuru accused the deputy president of being insincere while making the promises to the coastal people.
He does not despise the 2022 presidential front runner William Ruto but he hates anyone who makes false statements.
“I have been with my friend, William Ruto and I love him. I don’t despise him. I don’t hate anyone but I hate a lier,” President Uhuru said.
While drumming up support for Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition party flag bearer Raila Odinga, Uhuru said the country needs who is development-oriented.
“Kenya needs a leader who is development-oriented; one who can leverage on the existing projects to improve the lives of the people,” added Kenyatta.
