President Uhuru in first campaign rally alongside Raila Odinga

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta exuded confidence that the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party will jail thieves and corrupt politicians.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM leader Raila Odinga today held their first joint rally ahead of the August General Election.

On Saturday, March 12, President Uhuru and Raila joined thousands of residents at Jacaranda grounds in Nairobi where the ODM leader was officially unveiled as the Azimio One Kenya presidential candidate.

President Uhuru and his handshake partner received a heroic welcome from the crowd that had waited since morning.

Speaking at the charged rally, President Uhuru eluded confidence that Raila Odinga will win the August 9 presidential election.

“We are here to announce our team captain. We have no doubt we have a team leader. We have a team leader in the name Raila Odinga,” Uhuru said.

The head of state further paid thanks to the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who was present for his decision to support the former prime minister for the third time saying it is a sign of patriotism.

“Ndungu yangu Kalonzo Musyoka ana uwezo wa kuwa rais, lakini ameweka tamaa yake nyuma ili kuunganisha Kenya,” ( My brother Kalonzo Musyoka has the capability to be the president, but he has but aside his personal ambition for the sake of uniting Kenya) President Uhuru said.

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka used the rally to officially back Raila Odinga’s presidential bid and expressed confidence that the former prime minister was capable of leading the country.

“I thought Raila will endorse me for the presidency this time around but out of a good heart, I will support him. Raila Tosha,” Kalonzo said as the crowd cheered.

Earlier, President Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM leader Raila Odinga, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and Kanu Party leader Gideon Moi graced the Azimio la Umoja Convention at the KICC. Raila was endorsed as the coalition’s presidential flagbearer
