Uhuru Kenyatta has made history as the first Kenyan Head of State to meet three sitting US Presidents.
In his two terms as Kenyan Head of State, Uhuru has met Former US Presidents Barrack Obama, Donald Trump and the incumbent Joe Biden.
In his tour of the United States of America, Uhuru is set to hold bilateral talks with Joe Biden on Thursday, October 14.
“The leaders will discuss the strong U.S.-Kenyan bilateral relationship and the need to bring transparency and accountability to domestic and international financial systems. They will also discuss efforts to defend democracy and human rights, advance peace and security, accelerate economic growth, and tackle climate change,” read a statement from White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.
After Joe Biden was sworn into office on January 20, he made a phone call to President Uhuru Kenyatta promising to strengthen Kenya-USA relationship.
In his tour of the United States, the Kenyan Head of State also addressed concerns over his family having secret accounts overseas.
In his response, President Uhuru Kenyatta said his name was not mentioned in the Pandora papers expose.
While promising to respond on the issue extensively after returning to Kenya, Uhuru defended his family, saying there was no mention that the money was illegal.
“My name was not there [in Pandora Papers as an offshore account holder]. There has been no mention of any illegality or wrongdoing on my part. As I said before, I would address that issue comprehensively when I return home,” Uhuru said.
The Pandora Papers expose revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family owns offshore investments, including a company with stocks and bonds worth Ksh 3 Billion.
The companies that are in Panama are under the names of Uhuru’s mum (Mama Ngina Kenyatta), brother(Muhoho Kenyatta), and his sisters Christina Pratt and Anne Nyokabi.
