President Uhuru reshuffles cabinet and here is the list of changes

President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced reshuffles in his cabinet.

In a gazette notice on September 29, the Head of State announced changes in a number of ministries in Kenya.

With the new changes, a number of Cabinet secretaries and principal secretaries were moved to other ministries.

Here is a list of Cabinet Secretaries that have been reshuffled;

  1. Eugene Wamala.

He has been moved from the Ministry of Devolution to the Ministry of Defence

2. Monica Juma

The ambassador has been moved from the  Ministry of Defence  to Energy

3. Charles Keter

He has been moved from the Ministry of Energy to the Ministry of Devolution

In the cabinet changes, President Uhuru also reshuffled four Principal Secretaries as follow;

  1. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Gordon O. Kihalangwa moved to State Department for Energy.

2. Dr. (Eng.) Joseph K. Njoroge moved to State Department for Transport

3. Solomon Kitungu moved to State Department for Public Works

4. Nelson Marwa Sospeter moved State Department for Social Protection, Senior Citizens Affairs and Special Programmes.

While announcing the changes, State House spokesperson Kanze Dena also named state departments that have been transferred to other ministries.

  • The State Department for ASALs has been transferred to the Ministry of Public Service & Gender;
  • The State Department for Social Protection, Pensions and Senior Citizens has been transferred to the Ministry of Public Service & Gender;
  • The Department of Special Programmes is transferred to the State Department for Social Protection, Pensions and Senior Citizens Affairs; which State Department is renamed as the State Department for Social Protection, Senior Citizens Affairs and Special Programmes;
  • The Ministry of Devolution & The ASALs is hereby reconstituted and renamed as the Ministry of Devolution;
  • The Ministry of Public Service & Gender is hereby reconstituted and renamed as the Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs & Special Programmes;
  •  The Ministry of Labour & Social Protection is hereby reconstituted and renamed as the Ministry of Labour.

The Cabinet changes comes after reports that President Uhuru will be making the changes in order to clip the wings of William Ruto’s allies in the Cabinet.
