President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned the vote-rich Mt Kenya region against voting for Deputy President William Ruto in the August 9, presidential election.
While defending his choice of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party flag bearer Raila Odinga, Uhuru said the country will not be safe in William Ruto’s hands.
The Head of State who was speaking when he issued title deeds to residents of Ndeiya, Kiambu County advised voters to elect someone who will not misuse the mantle of leadership.
“Ule mtataka mimi ndio nitapatia kisu, kama ni kisu ya kuwaongoza na kuwalinda ama ni ya kuwakata nyiyi ndio mtajua tumeskizana vile tunaongea juu kisu iko na pande mbili ya kuchunga boma ama ya kukata na kumaliza watoto…mjichagulie,” Uhuru said.
Loosely translated “Whoever you want, I will give you a knife, if it is a knife to guide and protect you or to cut you, then you will know that we have quarreled as we are talking about. The knife has two sides, to take care of the house or to cut and kill the children… choose for yourself.”
While responding to Deputy President William Ruto’s allegations that his boss was after harming him, Uhuru accused Ruto of playing deceitful politics to win voters’ sympathy.
The first in command without mentioning names said those who were claiming that he wants to harm them were just revealing what they will do should they ascend to power in the August 9, General Election.
“Those telling me not to kill their children are only telling me not to do what they, themselves would do if they were in my position. That is what they just think about. That’s what they would do if they were in power. They are led by the devil. I am led by my God.”
