Presidential hopeful Justin Muturi has pledged not t spare corrupt officials if he wins the August 9 presidential election.

The National Assembly Speaker said that his administration will advocate for a death sentence on anybody convicted of corruption, saying it is the only way to permanently eradicate the vice in the country.

Speaking in Isinya, Kajiado County on Saturday, February 12, Muturi said his administration will make it easier to prosecute corruption cases by using the Auditor General’s report as a reference point.

“A Muturi led government will make it easy to prosecute by using the Auditor General’s report as a reference point. It will not be business as usual. Corrupt leaders should be taken to a park and the firing squad called in,” Speaker Muturi said.

The speaker wondered why it takes ages to conclude a corruption-related case when on other it takes only 14 days to hear a presidential election dispute.

“The Constitution sets the hearing of a presidential Election dispute to a time frame of 14 days, yet some of the biggest corruption cases never come to a conclusion,” Muturi said.

Speaker Muturi also stressed that more action needs to be taken against perpetrators of corruption, as it has negatively affected the country’s economy.

“We’re experiencing a high cost of living because of corruption. I don’t understand why corruption cases take so long to conclude, yet graft is the core cause of economic problems the country faces,” He added.

At the same time, Muturi urged other politicians to desist from hurling insults at one another while pretending to preach unity.

“You cannot purport to stand for unity yet every time you stand you call others thieves and other bad words,” he added.
