Opposition leader Raila Odinga's quest to expel rebel ODM Members of Assembly (MPs) from the Orange party has for the second attempt hit a snag.

Radio presenter Felix Odiwuor alias Jalango has officially joined the ODM party as he eyes a parliamentary seat in the 2022 General Election.

Jalango was received at ODM headquarters on Thursday, June 15 by ODM Secretary-general Edwin Sifuna and Communications director Philip Etale.

On the occasion, the radio presenter was handed an ODM certificate and life membership.

“Comedian and radio presenter Felix Odhiambo Odiwuor aka Jalango today officially joined the biggest political movement in the country. He was handed the Life Membership certificate by SG Edwin Sifuna. We keep marching on,” the ODM party posted on its social media page.

Jalango entry into Raila Odinga’s ODM comes amid a drive by the party to conduct mass registration.

On June 30, the party announced a waiver on the Ksh 100 registration for ordinary members in order to encourage more Kenyans to join them.

“The Party Leader Raila Amolo Odinga has directed my office to waive the membership fee for anyone wishing to join our party in the next three months beginning 1st July 2021,” ODM Secretary-general Edwin Sifuna wrote in a press release.

The party noted that Kenyans are undergoing hard economic times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and they considered this in their decision.

Now, the Radio presenter who eyes the Langata parliamentary seat in 2022 will be eyeing the ODM ticket.

He announced his intention to join the Langata race in May, saying he is at a point of no return.

“I am going to be the next MP of Langata. I am campaigning for myself. I am very serious, I am the next MP of Langata. Mark this day.

“I don’t go for things I can’t get. And once I have I said it, start getting used to your future MP,” he said.

He is set to battle it out with Raila Odinga’s former aide Silas Jakakimba who has been a member of ODM for a long time.
